The Botanical Wonder
In Italy, URKA means 'WOW, I didn't expect that.'
It's like biting into a fruit you thought would be sweet, only to discover an irresistibly tangy twist.
Within URKA spirits lies the Campania melannurca, a type of apple cultivated in Southern Italy for over two millennia. Crisp and juicy, this apple is a hidden gem capable of adding an unexpected touch to every recipe it encounters.
We've blended it with botanicals and spices from around the globe to unleash its complexity and indomitable spirit, unafraid of time or distance.
We chose this apple, born in the lands where we embarked on our thirst for discovery, to narrate a compelling tale of friendship, travels, and enduring bonds with URKA spirits.
All things surprising and delicious.

Known since Roman times as ‘Mala Orcula’, la Melannurca is the symbolic fruit of Campania.

After harvesting, the apples are laid on the ground in ‘melai’, on beds of soft material such as straw or wood shavings.
Here, exposed to the sun for 10-15 days, they are turned manually to ensure uniform reddening.
This traditional method gives the Melannurca its characteristic bright red color and enhances its organoleptic qualities. In fact, the Melannurca is appreciated for its crunchy flesh, pleasantly acidic flavour, and intense aroma.
